MIAMI -- Speaking from her Miami Lakes campaign headquarters, former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno conceded the Democratic nomination for governor Tuesday, saying she told nominee Bill McBride "he was going to be a great governor."

McBride won the Democratic gubernatorial nomination Tuesday as unofficial results from last week's botched primary election showed that he maintained his narrow lead over Reno.

and, drifting on the wind from a great distance, with the faint smell of scorched pants,

Republican Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday he was delighted that it appeared his Democratic opponent has been finally decided.

"For a year, there have been three opponents that have been banging on my head and saying ugly things about me, not being very specific about what they would do differently," Bush said. "Now there will be one, and I'm looking forward to it. ... I look forward to a good, tough fight and I intend to win."

Oh, I've been hoping for some good news...

Somebody get coffee, the marketing department's been sniffing glue again

German engineering giant Siemens has hastily abandoned plans to register the trademark "Zyklon", the same name as the Zyklon B poison gas used in Nazi extermination camps, BBC News Online has learnt.

A year ago, Bosch Siemens Hausgeraete (BSH), the firm's consumer products joint venture, filed two applications with the US Patent & Trademark Office for the Zyklon name across a range of home products, including gas ovens.

Jewish groups have condemned the move, in particular because Siemens used slave labour during the Nazi period.

Here's the thing. In some ways, I really do feel sorry for the Bush family. Clearly there's some serious dysfunction going on there, and being sheltered from the consequences of your entitled stupidity and misbehavior so that your parents' image doesn't suffer is not a way to develop analytical skills or impulse control or the ability to cope with adversity. They appear to be well underway to passing that on to the next generation. Family stuff can be the saddest stuff.

On a personal note: I read the 911 call on MWO. Governor, you're apparently not getting some information you really ought to have. I've known crack users. Crack users can have a very, very low bottom. If you keep enabling your daughter, it may or may not keep things quiet until after the election. I have to think that won't help you cope if she dies. You don't have any good choices. Make the one that saves your daughter. I can't stand to watch this any more.

All that being said: I do believe now that his brother has moved on to an appointed position, Jeb Bush is the least competent elected official in the country. Man couldn't administer piss out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel.

the righteous wrath of the Poor Man descends upon the transgressors

And I know I'm being funny about this whole thing, but it's really not funny - it's fucking pathetic. I mean, I can't prove that this is bullshit. Maybe some teenagers somehow got wind of the terrorist plot, and no one wants to touch this story because they can't handle the truth. And maybe the Mossad really did after all. What the fuck do I know? But lacking anything like, you know, evidence and stuff, what we've got is an unsubstantiated rumor being told and re-told in the "legitimate" media. That's bullshit. Look at it - that's what bullshit looks like. Recalibrate your instruments. Take a picture and put it in the dossier. If something comes along that gives the average reader any reason to believe that Israeli intelligence or hordes of schoolchildren were in on The Conspiracy™ - my bad. But I'm not holding my breath.

Mark Steyn, of course, has the Gleam of Truth™, and if I'm not mistaken, even the Glimmer of Justice™, and so recognizes that these rumors are not only completely credible, but THEY AREN'T EVEN ABOUT 9/11! No, it's all about The Conspiracy™, and how Dan Rather doesn't want anyone to know about The Truth™, because of Political Correctness™, and Misplaced Sensitivity™, and Liberal Bias™, and blah blah blah fucking blah blah. September 11th was merely an Earthly fact, and, in his deep Samádhi of political righteousness, it will not cause the slightest pause or change in his death-battle against the liberal Mara and his wicked lies. To put it another way, Mark Steyn is a fucking nutcase for writing this, and the editors of the National Post are a bunch of idiots for publishing it. The real coup de grace of this whole affair is that Mr. Steyn ends this paranoid lunatic fable in some crap story about how he was standing by his friend while he became a Canadian citizen, so, you see, he's not anti-immigrant or anything, just sort of a crusty, straight-shooting maverick with a heart of gold. Spare me. Spare me the song and dance about the sensitive puppy-dog man with the gruff exterior. Pardon my misplaced sensitivity, but you're a God damned asshole.

There's more.
