the bad news is that ANSWER, when they're not organizing peace marches, apparently have a tendresse for the bad old days of the soviet communist system.
the good news is, most of the people who have marched knew nothing about the goals, the affiliations or even the existence of ANSWER.
the bad news is, some folks on the right are saying that the anti-war marches are tainted by ANSWER anyway.
the good news is that we're not going to hear nearly as much about that now that it would raise questions about Patriot 2 and the dubious democratic (or republican, for that matter) credentials of the administration in power who the right definitely do support.
the bad news is that ANSWER has shut Rabbi Michael Lerner out of marching in SF because, they say, he was mean to them, but more likely because he's not a great fan of their stance on Israel or they his.
the even worse news is that the other organizers let them get away with it.
I think lots of folks should go to that protest march with No to War/No to ANSWER signs.
the good news is, ANSWER is not to my knowledge involved with the New York observances.
the bad news is that in keeping with the proud tradition of Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki, Bloomberg is refusing to let the anti-war march go on in New York. There will be a "rally" for a limited number of people in Manhattan across from the UN.
the good news is that people are going anyway, and will be "marching" to the rally site from meeting points around midtown.
here's a URL for the "feeder marches".
I wouldn't at all mind seeing some anti-ANSWER signs there too.
