the world is a very scary place
Dec. 27th, 2007 04:17 pmobviously, on the top of everyone's list today is Benazir Bhutto's assassination, and I really can't give it the in-depth treatment it deserves, so let me point you to Christy, who's doing her usual yeoman work of pulling the story together: here, on Our Fearless Leader's response, and some better-informed opinions; here, on local blogs in Pakistan who are liveblogging the story
Brilliant at Breakfast has a nice reflection on Bhutto's complicated story. Digby has more here.
Digby has Our Beloved Former Mayor climbing up on top of the corpse to promote himself, and the press assisting him (in fairness, given the 22nd Amendment, Rudy's the potential Republican candidate with the most on-the-job experience in that area). Sen. McCain, who is notable for his unswerving support of our current foreign policy of ignoring the region's needs because destabilizing the middle east was better for his party's electoral prospects, regrets that something bad happened
If you have a preferred way to ask favors from the immanent, I'm guessing the folks in Pakistan tonight would appreciate it.

( and, in local news, it's a link dump )
