Lift a glass to Steve Gilliard, who should have lived to see this day.

Not because he was a huge Obama supporter - he wasn't, although I suspect he would have come around when he saw the massive voter registration going on.

Because Steve deserved to see the day when it became impossible for the conventional wisdom to close the book on someone simply because he/she is black.
