I realize we're all a little unsettled to find out that there are a lot of folks out there who don't see what we see.

There are, however, a lot of people who do.

Do you expect these groups to grow or shrink in a second Bush term?

Karl Rove got his four million. He's maxed out on the upside. When the war and the economy come into their living rooms, do you think that the "Values" faction is still going to think other people's sex lives are the most important business of government?

When the sheer dumb luck that has held terrorists away in the face of the astonishingly incompetent Homeland Security operation these people have put together finally ceases to hold, what then?

Yeah, I know what the punderati have to say about this.

Go back and look at what they had to say Tuesday morning and ask yourself this: they didn't know these people existed four days ago. How come they know so much about how to talk to them now?

So, again: not a paradigm shift. People who want to believe that we've done the right thing and they're safe and their jobs and families are safe, who feel more comfortable with faith than reason and trust in it to fix everything.

Well, they'll learn.

What they're gonna have a hard time doing is convincing anyone else in the face of the evidence.

This isn't a trend. It's a ceiling.

Breathe, OK?

I agree. They are in control now and will have to deliver on the social agenda. If they do deliver, they will be out of power, because they suck on econmic issues.

Orwell VS. Jeremiah. I heard somewhere this is a cultural cold war, I couldn't agree more.
