Sen. Lieberman explains his position in biblical terms
At each church, the preacher invoked faith to say that Mr. Lieberman would be re-elected Tuesday, and Mr. Lieberman happily concurred. At the Congregation of the Community Tabernacle of Deliverance in Stamford, one preacher spoke of the biblical character of Joseph, who he said “refused to sell out to the haters.” A few moments later, Mr. Lieberman added:

“Joseph had faith that God will take care of the haters and I have a certain faith that this Tuesday God will take care of the voters.”

Not the bloggers. Not the mythic crowds of Bush-haters who are trying to sway the party.

The voters.

Any questions?

Maybe I'm not remembering well enough, but Joseph's enemies did not suffer all that much Godly payback. Joseph's family, after some trials (the famine, which everyone else in the area suffered, and a little criminal framing by Joseph), eventually reconciled with him, and his other main enemy -- Potiphar's wife, I guess -- got off scot free, at least as far as Genesis recounts.

But in a more benign sense, God did take care of the voters on Tuesday.
