war sucks.

I don't think we should have gone to war - not now, not this way, not with these people in charge. I don't like what it's done to us as a country. Some of you disagree, for reasons I can respect and reasons I can't.

With the exception of Andrew Sullivan, I think one thing we can agree on is that war sucks. It sucks when people kill. It sucks when people die. It sucks when people live the rest of their lives haunted by the memories of killing and watching people die.

ReachM High Cowboy Network thinks we should have a day of silence on Thursday for the people who have died and the people who are going to die and the people who have to live with all this afterwards (that's us, you know).

I think that's a fine idea.

Saddam is evil? Do tell.

WADR, I'm getting awfully tired of folks telling me that - when precisely the people who are leading the parade now were giving WMDs to Saddam, I was against it. I was unamerican then, so I was told, and I'm unamerican now.

If you were against the Nazis when we hadn't made up our minds yet, it came back to bite you in the ass after WW2.

High-faluting? You must be kidding. We've hung these people up to dry for literally decades now. Now we should roll over the UN because the Iraqis [don't] have WMDs, and we should kill more civilians because they didn't rise up again to get slaughtered by the weapons we sold their dictator?

I've already noticed that we disagree on this topic. I don't agree with you, but I didn't feel it would be amicable to start in about it. I would, however, appreciate it if you left the Holocaust out of it, because the only parallel I see is that the Bush family supplied both regimes.

Oh, dear.

You really haven't done your homework, have you.

I'm sorry, but the combination of confrontational affect and the fact that you haven't heard of Shock and Awe or Halliburton or acquainted yourself with the careers of Donald Rumsfeld or Prescott Bush or acquainted yourself with the genocidal histories of "the willing" suggests that this isn't going to be a fruitful conversation.

Suffice it to say: I'll line up with most of the Pentagon and the State Department, you get in there with Darryl Worley, and I suspect we'll both be happy as clams.

Attitude is a poor substitute for knowledge.

Enjoy yourself elsewhere.

Arrogance is a poor substitute for one-sided sources. Watch the people of Iraq rejoice at their freedom, and know that you and your ilk deserve none of the acclaim whatsoever.
