"About the deranging influence of blogs Baker makes a sterling point."

Because only he, Baker, and the established press can carry the torch of truth, and they would never, ever use it to sway public opinion.

whereas you yourself were a mewing baa-lamb before you read this incitatory wound to the amour propre, yes?

Aw, c'mon, fess up.

I rather fancy myself as a deranging influence, especially having achieved it by reposting snippets from the New York Times.

I've been deranged since I first grew a ranged brain.

I simply dislike any dismissive attitude toward blogs, zines, or any cheap form of idea dissemination that gives the non-connected a chance to vent and perhaps swing peope their way. "These blogs are nonprofessional, so therefore they must be an amusing hobby, yes? Like manufacturing lawn gnomes in one's basement? Scoff-scoff. How could anyone who doesn't have a byline or book contract ever dare to think they should be taken seriously?" Of course, when they ARE taken seriously, then whatever they write is labeled as suitable only for the aluminum-foil-hat-wearing realm.

Then they cherry-pick and promote the more popular voices until their profit potential wears out. Never mind nurturing new talent that dares to look at the world differently (and, believe it or not, despite my massive ego, I don't mean me). I've just seen it happen before, and it's getting old.

Stupid big time mass media.
