I wouldn't expect serious journalism from Kitty Kelley. She's never done it and I don't know that it's every been presented as such.

Even "Washington Week in Review" seems rushed, these days. At least it's better than the dumb exchanges between David Brooks and Mark Shields that last too long on PBS' The News Hour.

Me neither. I also don't expect serious reviewing from Michiko Kakutani, at least not of anything that offends her delicate sensibilities.

Kakutani is a clever writer, but too often more entranced with turns of her own phrases than by any real insights into the books she's reviewing.
