Atrios links to a post at the DCCC by Joe Trippi (the guy who put the Dean campaign on the internet) about why we should be helping them out right now (and he has a few suggestions about how).

I don't know how much I can add to that, except to say that until we have someone in the leadership, we won't have any voice in the conference committees, and when we don't have a voice in the conference committees, Republicans get to go down to their districts and tell the voters that they voted for things like repealing the Bush overtime rules knowing that they'll be stripped from the bills when the House and Senate get together.

Also, you know, no more candy for Dennis "I'm not saying Soros is a drug kingpin who did something bad to get out of a concentration camp, I'm just, you know, saying" Hastert and Tom "not currently under indictment" DeLay.

Just saying.

It doesn't cost that much - hell, if you volunteer, it costs nothing - to turn a House race. I think it's worth the money and/or the time.

This has nothing to do with anything, just a personal aside really. My mother has taught several of the Soros family children in pre school. It's a co-operative nursery school, so each parent has to chip in two days a semester (or something like that.) The members of the Soros family have always been extremely gracious, and happy to clean the bathroom, paint, whatever, when their turn came, This is as it should be, and is only notable because some of the other wealthy families have behaved like pampered jerks.
